Brock, Mills advance to boys' track & field regional

The Owen Vally boys' track & field team traveled to Bloomington North late last week to compete in sectional action. As a team, the Patriots finished seventh with 26 points, advancing two athletes in three total events.

Senior Riley Brock finished second in high jump at 5-10 and third in long jump with a distance of 19-9.5 to advance to regional competition in both events. Junior Bryce Mills placed third in shot put with a throw of 53-6.50, also advancing to regionals.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Timothy Wheeler, Dakota Heidrick, Abbott Church and Tim Harden was sixth in 3:47.28, Church was seventh in high jump at 5-6 and Harden placed eighth in the 400-meter dash in 55.93.

Dylan Herbert finished ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.79 and Paden Schwarz was 12th in the 200-meter dash in 25.55 and 14th in the 100-meter dash in 12.52. Lucas Hendershot was 13th in the 800-meter run in 2:15.71.

In the distance races, Tucker McCarty placed 13th in the 1600-meter run in 5:24.05 and Tristan Calvin was 12th in the 3200-meter run in 11:38.51.

Sawyer LaGrange was the lone hurdler for Owen Valley, placing 14th in the 300-hurdles in 48.36.

In the field events, Harden was 13th in long jump with a distance of 16-.075, Ethan Fulk was 16th in discus at 97-8 and Hemi Shepherd was 18th in discus at 90-06.

Brock and Mills will compete in the Bloomington North Regional this Thursday evening, beginning at 6 p.m.
