Britney Spears' request for her father to be removed from his role overseeing her conservatorship has been denied by a judge.

The singer has been under the conservatorship since 2008 and just last week broke her silence in an emotional testimony.

Yesterday (June 30), court documents filed in Los Angeles revealed that Judge Brenda Perry had refused the request by Britney's lawyer Samuel Ingham to oust father Jamie Spears from his position.

However, the wealth management firm Bessemer Trust was appointed as co-conservators after Ingham requested they be appointed as "sole conservators".

"The conservatee's request to suspend James P Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company Of California, NA as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice," the documents state.

This comes a week after Britney's own testimony to the court and Judge Perry was leaked to the public. In the recording she said to have been left traumatised by the conservatorship, and also claimed that she had been banned from removing an IUD from her body, preventing her from having any more children.

"I just want my life back, it's been 13 years and it's enough," she said. "It's enough and it makes no sense at all... I'm done. I want to sue my family to be totally honest with you."

Spears' father earlier filed his own court documents, denying that he was responsible for the alleged restrictions on his daughter's life.

Despite overseeing her estate for the past 13 years, he has not been in control of her affairs since September 2019, stepping down due to ill health and replaced on a temporary basis by Jodi Montgomery, Britney's caregiver.

On Tuesday (June 29), his lawyers requested an inquiry into Britney's testimony and said that he had no intention of returning as her personal conservator while being "concerned" about her wellbeing.

The conservatorship case is due back in court in July.
