British tourist dies after falling in sea while posing for waterfront photo in south of France
A British tourist has died after falling into the sea while posing for a photo in the south of France.
Faerez Bagna, 27, from Kensington, west London, drowned after suffering a cardiac arrest when he fell from the promenade in Nice on 29 September.
The nightclub host had asked his friend to take a snap of him at the “water’s edge”, according to France Bleu.
The newspaper said his body was found by rescuers at around 3.05pm, 15 minutes after he fell.
Mr Bagna’s sister Mella Sanders discovered he was dead two weeks later on 13 October when she was sent a text message.
Ms Sanders has since set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to repatriate her brother. On it, she wrote: "On the 13th October we received horrific news via text, unsympathetically stating that our Brother had drowned in the sea of Nice...
"We still don't know the full story and are piecing together most of it from what we can find online.
"This is absolutely devastating, more so than it needs to be."
Ms Sanders said the family wanted to bring her brother home so they can mourn his death properly and he can “rest in peace surrounded by his loved ones”.

Ms Sanders added: "All who met Faerez will know how loving, passionate and caring he was about every single thing he did in his life.”
Mr Bagna’s Instagram account showed him at the popular champagne tower events he hosted at Forge nightclub in central London.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said the victim’s family had not sought help from them.
