Brimley returns from layoff, notches win

EBEN JUNCTION — Brimley returned to the court for the first time in 2022 and downed Superior Central 44-39 in a non-conference girls basketball game Saturday afternoon.

Vivian Carrick scored 10 points, while Sadie McGuire and Liz Johnson added nine points each for the Bays (4-4 overall). Ceara LeBlanc added eight points, while Autumn Tremblay had six and Lindsey Hill had two points.

The Bays were coming off a week of virtual school and without athletics, and hadn’t played since before Christmas.

“We played well but had to knock the rust off since we haven’t played since Dec. 23 and missing the past two weeks of practice,” Brimley coach Matt Bathey said. “We looked better than I expected especially on defense.”

Katrina Augustyn and Emma Rutter scored 11 points apiece for the Cougars (5-3).
