Brightline will not stop at Disney World, but other Orlando stations are on track

Walt Disney won’t be the site of a Brightline train station, the company has announced, although the high-speed rail will still have an Orlando stop.

Orlando has been a destination for Brightline from the start of the rail service. Right now, Brightline has stations in downtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, with future ones planned for Aventura and Boca Raton and later on Tampa.

A station at the new transit hub near Orlando’s airport also is under construction and is expected to open next year. Brightline confirmed that a station also will be located near Disney Springs and across Interstate 4 that borders Disney’s property. Disney did not respond to a request for more information and comment.

The newly announced Orlando plans come shortly after the Biden administration announced grants to help fund railroad projects. That money would be used to connect Orlando and Tampa with a Brightline train.

Brightline said it would match whatever money the grant provides them for their Tampa connection. Current Brightline rails have already cost billions to build.
