Man dies in house trailer accident

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a man died after being trapped under a house trailer at 1:24 p.m. Sunday on Keene Township Road 47.

First responders arrived to find Robert Guthrie, 52, trapped under a house trailer he was attempting to move when the jack slipped and the trailer fell on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Coshocton County Coroner's Office.

Assisting were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Prince's Wrecker Service and the Three Rivers, Jackson Township and Coshocton fire departments.

Two injured in side by side wreck

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a single vehicle crash at 9:16 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of County Road 401 and Monroe Township 337.

Authorities said Thomas P. Shreiner, 45, of Warsaw, was traveling south on County Road 401 when he lost control of his vehicle while attempting to turn west onto Township Road 337. The side by side overturned and came to rest on its driver's side. Denny Ferrerira, 46, of Canada was a passenger.

Ferrerira was treated and released on scene and Shreiner was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center for treatment. Assisting were Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and the Walhonding Valley Fire District.

Wreck caused by swerving to miss deer

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a single vehicle crash at 6:03 a.m. Monday in the 18000 block of County Road 271 in Franklin Township.

Authorities said William Shane Erman, 29, of Coshocton, was traveling north when he swerved to miss a deer and went off the right side of the road. The vehicle continued through a ditch before striking a tree and overturning, coming to rest on its wheel back on the roadway.

Erman was treated and released on scene. Assisting were Coshocton Count Emergency Medical Services, Coshocton Fire Department and Prince's Wrecker Service. The West Lafayette Fire Department was canceled en route.

Binning arrested for robbery

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 4 investigated a shooting in the 23000 block of Ohio 83.

Deputies spoke to victims and was told the suspect fled the scene in a red Pontiac. Authorities searched the area and found the vehicle on U.S. 36. The suspect had left the vehicle on foot and was found not far from it. Also assisting was the Coshocton County Prosecutor's Office and Prince's Wrecker Service.

On Feb. 6, Austin L. Binning, 25, of Coshocton, was formally charged with two counts of robbery, first-degree felonies, related to the incident.

Kreis named to council

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Republican Party Central Committee on Jan. 31 selected Jim Kreis to serve as a councilman at-large on Coshocton City Council. He replaces Glenn Mishler who resigned his seat due to health reason on Jan. 23.

The Coshocton native worked for his family grocery store for 20 years and then worked for what is now Cleveland Cliffs for more than 24 years.

Kreis is a candidate for the seat in the fall general election. Vying for the three at-large seats on council are also Republican Tom Barcroft and Democrat Michelle Turner Ganz, incumbents, and Republican Robert Leist.
