Bridgerton is the most watched Netflix show ever
We don't know a single person who wasn't totally obsessed with Bridgerton, so it's little surprise it's now Netflix's most successful show ever. A huge 82 million households have watched the original series since it debuted on the streaming platform on Christmas Day.
That means everyone's fave Regency romance knocks fantasy epic The Witcher from the top spot after it had 76million streams in its first 28 days, while French crime series Lupin had 70 million views and The Queen's Gambit 62 million.
"The show has made the top 10 in every country except Japan - hitting number one in 83 countries including the US, UK, Brazil, France, India, and South Africa," Netflix said on Wednesday. "Indeed, the success of Bridgerton propelled the books into The New York Times bestseller lists for the first time, and 18 years after they were first published."
Over on Twitter, the streaming giant celebrated the milestone with a collage of hilarious TikToks from fans recreating their favourite characters as well as snippets from the incredible unofficial Bridgerton musical.

The news comes a week after Netflix delighted us all by confirming the show would be returning for a season 2. "Prepare for another social season," Netflix wrote on Twitter. "Bridgerton shall be back for season 2!" Fans were also treated to a message from Lady Whistledown herself (read: Netflix):
"The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honour to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion. The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021. This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities."
