After receiving Town Council approve, Le Bilboquet will begin offering breakfast on Feb. 16.

Two months after it was shut down for violating hours approved by the town, breakfast service will resume next month at the French bistro Le Bilboquet.

In a unanimous vote Jan. 12 at its development review meeting, the Town Council granted a special exception request and site plan approval for the year-old restaurant on Worth Avenue to begin offering breakfast.

Le Bilboquet, at 245a Worth Ave., currently serves lunch and dinner, but will add a full breakfast menu starting Feb. 16, said Dobi Trendafilova, the restaurant’s general manager.

Breakfast service will run daily from 8 to 11 a.m.

“We believe that being open for breakfast will bring something new and exciting to Worth Avenue,” Trendafilova said. “It will benefit the community, the stores and the people of Palm Beach.”

Worth Avenue landlord Jane Holzer, who spoke at last week’s meeting on behalf of Le Bilboquet, said she has heard from numerous people that the restaurant should add a breakfast menu.

The restaurant, she said, serves not only residents and visitors but also employees of nearby businesses.

“It serves people who work on the Avenue,” Holzer said. “So many people from the different stores asked when there could be breakfast. What happens is, people do come for breakfast, and there’s more business traffic in the morning for stores, so it’s kind of a win-win for everybody.”

Council members agreed, noting that expanding the restaurant’s operating hours to allow for breakfast service would not impact anyone since there are no residential areas nearby.

“I think this would be a plus,” Mayor Danielle Moore said. “It would sort of energize that end of the Avenue.”

Le Bilboquet first opened its doors last January with dinner. Not long after, the restaurant, which offers both indoor and al fresco seating, added lunch and weekend brunch.

The restaurant began serving breakfast in November, with fare ranging from coconut yogurt and acai bowls to heartier dishes such as eggs Benedict and omelets.

But the town ordered Le Bilboquet to end its breakfast service two days later, citing violations of its approved hours, which were 11 a.m. to midnight. The council approved the 109-seat restaurant in September 2019 with those hours.

When breakfast service resumes, selections will include avocado toast, salmon gravlax and egg dishes served with rösti potato, chicken sausage and tomatoes Provencale. Entrees will range in price from around $6 to $27.

French baked goods made in house — such as croissants and pain au chocolat — also will be served along with fresh juices, smoothies, chia pudding, fresh fruit and specialty coffees and teas.

"We've prepared a wonderful menu, which is a combination of French classics and a few healthy options," Trendafilova said.

The restaurant is a sister to Le Bilboquet locations in New York City, Sag Harbor, Denver, Atlanta and Dallas. Those locations do not serve breakfast, Trendafilova said.

"Palm Beach will be the first location to open for breakfast, and we're really excited about that," she said.

Le Bilboquet's lunch menu will be served from noon to 3 p.m., and dinner service begins at 5:30 pm. A special brunch menu is available on Saturday and Sunday.
