BPD: Pedestrian killed on Stockdale Highway; vehicles flee

Dec. 4—For the second time in three days, drivers are accused of hitting and killing pedestrians and then fleeing.

It happened again at about 2:32 a.m. Sunday in the 3900 block of Stockdale Highway, where the Bakersfield Police Department was alerted to a man down in the road. He died at the scene, according a BPD new release. His identity has not been released.

The driver of the vehicle, described only as an early 2000s white 4D with a spoiler and major front-end damage, fled, police said. Two other vehicles were possibly involved; they were described as a gray truck, possibly a Toyota Tundra, and a red sedan, possibly an early 2000s Toyota Corolla.

BPD's Major Collision Investigation Team went to the scene. Speed does not appear to be a factor; it's not known if alcohol was a factor, BPD reported.

A male pedestrian was also struck by a vehicle and killed at 9:45 p.m. Friday in the 3800 block of White Lane.

BPD asks that anyone with information about either incident call 661-327-7111.
