Boys swimming and diving: Century runner-up at Big Nine meet

Mar. 6—Owen Nord was once again four-for-four at the Big Nine Conference boys swimming and diving meet.

The Century senior was part of four winning events to help the Panthers place second in the 12-team event on Friday. Northfield won the conference title with 413.5points. Century was the runner-up with 354 points and Mayo was third with 254. John Marshall finished 10th.

Nord also was part of four winning events at the Big Nine meet as a junior. He repeated as the champion in the 50 freestyle and broke his own meet record with a time of 21.15 seconds.

Nord also posted an individual win in the 100 freestyle (46.80) and he was part of two winning relays. He teamed with Nate Kram, Jameson Bargfrede and Jackson Homme to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.15. Nord was joined by his brother, Aidan Nord, Jensen Richard and Jack Homme to capture the 400 freestyle relay in 3:18.59.

Homme won the 500 freestyle fort the Panthers with a time of 5:00.37.

Ethan Yao of Mayo and Logan Kelly of Austin both won a pair of individual events. The two seniors tied for first in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.37.

Yao also claimed the 100 backstroke in 53.15 while Kelly won the 100 breaststroke in 56.95.

Kevin Bossou was the runner-up in diving for John Marshall while Bryan Chen was second in the 500 freestyle for Mayo.

Next up for the swimming and diving teams in the section meet next week in Rochester.
