BOYS GOLF: Bemidji's Nick Yavarow ties for 3rd at 48-player North-South Invite

May 22—DETROIT LAKES — Nick Yavarow paced the Bemidji High School boys golf team on Friday and Saturday, carding an 8-over-par 152 over two days at the North-South Invite in Detroit Lakes.

His score landed him in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard, while the Lumberjacks finished sixth of eight teams.

Yavarow's two-round showing included a 74 on day one, which had him tied for first place overall. He wrapped up the tournament with a 78 on day two, sinking four birdies throughout the meet.

Also in the running for BHS, Eli Tuomala and Ryan Daman each carded a 170 over the two rounds, which tied them for 26th. Close behind, Simon Fredrickson (171) and John Loch (172) placed 29th and 30th, respectively.

Nick Carlson rounded out Bemidji's results, placing 33rd with his 176.

As a team, the Jacks finished with a two-day score of 657. They tallied a 328 on Friday and a 329 on Saturday.

Fargo Davies (N.D.) won the invite with a score of 612, while Roseau (626) and Detroit Lakes (628) rounded out the top three. Jayce Johnson of Davies fired a 147 to earn medalist honors.

BHS is back in action at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, with an invite in Brainerd.
