COLUMBUS – Regardless of your team’s record, tournament time is always exciting, and while there wasn’t a lot of suspense during Sunday’s Central District and Southeast District tournament draws for boy’s high school basketball teams, it is still compelling to find out exactly where teams will be seeded.

Fairfield Union received the highest seed in the area as the Falcons earned the No. 2 seed in the Division II Southeast District. The Falcons (17-3), are in the hunt for a Mid-State League-Buckeye Division championship. They are tied for first place with Teays Valley, and if both teams win out, they will finish as co-champs of the league.

Fairfield Union will open the tournament with a home game at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 against the winner of 15th-seed Logan Elm and No. 18-seed Greenfield McClain. If the seed holds true, the Falcons will then host another game against either Marietta or Unioto, which could possibly set up a district semifinal game against No. 3 seed Miami Trace. That game would take place on March 1 at Southeastern High School.

Washington Court House is the No. 1 seed in Division II in the Southeast District.

In the Central District, in Division I, Lancaster drew a No. 29 seed out of 46 teams. The Golden Gales will open tournament play at home against 34-seed Dublin Scioto at 7 p.m. Feb. 21. If Lancaster wins, the Gales will travel to face third-seeded Olentangy Liberty at 7 p.m. Feb. 24.

In Division II, Bloom-Carroll drew a No. 9 seed and will play the winner of the No. 7 Granville and No. 13 Whitehall. If the Blue Aces win, the Bulldogs would be on the road and if the Rams, win, Bloom-Carroll would have a home game.

In Division III, No. 17 Liberty Union will travel to face No. 9 Fredericktown at 7 p.m. Feb. 22, and No. 26 seed Amanda-Clearcreek drew a first-round bye and will face the winner of top-seeded Africentric and 27 seed Cristo Rey.

In Division IV, Fairfield Christian Academy drew the highest seed (No. 4) of local teams in Division IV and will host No. 7 Newark Catholic at 1 p.m. Feb. 25.

No. 5 Millersport drew a bye and will host the winner of the No. 13 Granville Christian Academy-No. 14 Madison Christian game at 7 p.m. Feb. 25.

No. 11 Fisher Catholic will be on the road and will face No. 10 Shekinah Christian at 1 p.m. Feb. 25, and No. 12 Berne Union travel and face No. 3 Northmor at 7 p.m. Feb. 25.
