Investigation launched as boy, 3, dies after falling from London tower block on his birthday
A toddler has died after plunging 50ft to his death from a block of flats in London on his third birthday.
Edward Popadiuc died in hospital two hours after falling from a fourth-floor flat in Bridge Court, Harrow, on Friday.
It is the second case of a toddler falling from a tower block in 24 hours, after an 18-month-old child fell to his death from a flat in Tottenham, north London, last Thursday.
Edward’s father, Alexandru, spoke of the pain of losing his son on Thursday.
He told the Evening Standard: “I don’t want to cry any more, I do it all day and all night. He is our angel now.

“He was the best kid in this world. He had lots of energy and used to smile all the time.”
Witnesses said they heard Edward’s mother screaming as Mr Popadiuc ran downstairs after the three-year-old’s fall.
One neighbour told the newspaper: “The window catches are very flimsy. I have complained to Harrow council. I won’t let my kids near the window for that reason.”
A GoFundMe crowdfunding page has been set up by Little Aisha nursery to help raise money for Edward’s body to be transported to Romania for his funeral, which has so far raised more than £13,000.
A caption posted by Mary Da Costa read: “I am the Manager of Little Aisha Nursery. On Friday November 1st, Edward was celebrating his third birthday and his very first birthday with us.
“Edward left happy and smiling but unfortunately soon after he left the nursery to go home he had a tragic accident and fell from the fourth floor.
“Because of the proximity of the nursery to Edwards house, Little Aisha staff members administered first aid to try and save Edward but it is with a heavy heart that we inform you that he sadly passed.”
A Met spokesman said no arrests had been made.
A statement from Scotland Yard read: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 13:10hrs on November 1 to reports of a child falling from height from a residential building off Stanley Road, Harrow.
“Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended and found the child in a critical condition.
“The child, a three-year-old boy, was taken to a north London hospital. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at 14.44hrs.”
A Harrow council spokesman said: “We cannot comment on this incident at this moment while investigations are ongoing. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
