Dec. 1—Boulder's General Canvassing and Election Board convened Tuesday to officially approve the results of the 2021 municipal election.

Mayor Aaron Brockett, Mayor Pro Tem Rachel Friend and City Council members Bob Yates and Junie Joseph convened as the board because they were the four members who did not run for election this year.

The approval solidified the five newly elected members of City Council: Mark Wallach, Matt Benjamin, Nicole Speer, Lauren Folkerts and Tara Winer. Winer will serve a two-year term, while the rest will serve four years.

All five of the city's ballot measures were successful, including the capital infrastructure tax extension and related bond measure. The Humane Clothing Act was successful, while Bedrooms Are For People and Let the Voters Decide on Annexation of CU South was unsuccessful.

According to information presented at Tuesday's meeting, there are 68,885 active Boulder voters and 33,772 ballots were cast in this year's election.

"We have free and fair and safe and secure elections here in the city of boulder," Brockett said. "We're very fortunate that's the case and it's an honor to perform our little part in that process."
