Boulder County programs awarded $72,500 in grant funding

Dec. 5—A Colorado-based foundation on Friday announced it is awarding $72,500 in grants to four Boulder County organizations that are working to improve the lives of the elderly community and their caregivers.

The Boulder County grant recipients include Longmont, Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, Boulder County Arts Alliance and TRU Community Care.

NextFifty Initiative, which funds efforts to improve and sustain the quality of life for elderly people, also will donate a total of $3.5 million in grants to similar organizations across the state and $3.7 million in funding to organizations outside Colorado, according to a news release from the organization.

"The COVID-19 pandemic created exceptional challenges for many organizations that support older adults," Diana McFail, president and CEO of NextFifty Initiative, said in the news release. "We created the flexible support opportunity, in part, to simplify the process of applying for funds and to allow organizations to request the type of support they most need to meet the rapidly evolving needs of older people in their communities."
