Homeowners With Buyer's Remorse — What Made You Regret Your Home Purchase?

Buying a home is massive responsibility — both when it comes to the actual financial implications of, ya know, OWNING property, and having to deal with a whole slew of logistical puzzles. It's far from easy, and unlike what your parents always told you, it's also not for everyone.

People talk about home ownership like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread...but ya know what we don't talk about enough? Homebuyers that regret their purchase. It's more common than you might think, too.

"Regret" can look different for a lot of people, and it doesn't necessarily have to mean that you sold your home instantly and walked away. Maybe you bought a home years ago, and after spending thousands of dollars on necessary repairs every year, you're starting to realize that the upkeep might not be worth what you'll ultimately sell it for one day.

Perhaps you were enticed by monthly payments that would be less than your rent, but now that you're a homeowner, you're slowly realizing that all the other expenses add up quickly (and you're not exactly saving money).

Or, maybe you rushed to purchase a home during the pandemic real estate boom. In order to actually have your offer accepted, you submitted it without exploring the neighborhood or the rest of the building. Now, you're stuck in an area that isn't what you thought it would be — and no amount of renovations can change that.
