Bolivia destroys cocaine labs found in national park
STORY: Authorities believe both labs were valued at around $500,000 U.S. dollars.
"In this second lab we've found 17 dorm rooms that sleep 36 people. Therefore, we assume 36 people worked at this place. This lab had the capacity to produce, approximately, between 220 to 300 pounds of cocaine hydrochloride," said government Minister Eduardo del Castillo.
The operation was carried out by Bolivia's Task Force to Fight Drug Trafficking.
The discovery was made after a helicopter used by drug traffickers crashed in a river in Santa Cruz department on Thursday. Local media reported the aircraft was carrying 1102 pounds of cocaine.
