Bogus Basin is opening for the ski season. Here are the dates

After an early opening in November, Bogus Basin will begin daily operations on Thursday, Dec. 1, it announced in a news release.

The nonprofit said its open terrain remains limited to runs and a terrain park off the Deer Point Express, Morning Star Express and Coach Chairlifts, and 27 kilometers of groomed Nordic trails.

“November delivered a mix of natural snowfall and ideal snowmaking conditions, resulting in our very early opening and good riding conditions on the front side of the mountain,” said Nate Shake, director of mountain operations. “The snow forecast looks favorable over the next several days, and we will open additional terrain as conditions allow.”

The Idaho Statesman previously reported locations north of Boise can expect 2 to 3 feet of snow this week.

Bogus Basin’s operating schedule as of Dec. 1

Lift operating hours

Hours will extend until 10 p.m. on Dec. 9 when night operations begin. For now:

  • 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday

  • 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday to Sunday

Lifts available

Deer Point Express, Morning Star Express and Coach chairlifts, in addition to three conveyor lifts, will operate daily. Showcase Chairlift will operate Saturday and Sunday only. Additional lifts will operate as natural snow conditions permit.

Terrain available

Open runs include Alpine, Showcase, Bogus Creek, Upper and Lower Ridge, Sourdough, Stewart’s Bowl, Coach, Silver Queen, Lulu, Morning Star, Sunshine, Pioneer Trail, a full terrain park and 27 kilometers of groomed Nordic trails.

Night Operations

Given predicted snowfall, visitors can also look forward to the start of night operations on Friday, Dec. 9, instead of the original date set in mid- to late December due to “aggressive snowmaking and favorable weather,” Bogus Basin says.

Lodge Facilities

Hours will expand on Dec. 9 for night operations. For now:

  • J.R. Simplot Lodge will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for full food and beverage service.

  • The Double R Ranch BBQ Smokehouse is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday only.

  • Pioneer Lodge is open 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Brundage Mountain to open this week

Brundage Mountain will open for full-time, seven-day-a-week operations starting Friday. The Bluebird Express, Centennial Triple and Easy Street Triple chairlifts will be in operation beginning Friday. The Brundage Mountain operations team will continue to groom more runs, open additional terrain and expand lift services once conditions allow.

Brundage has received over two feet of snow since Monday as significant winter storms have hit Idaho this week, meaning the resort will open with snow depths ranging from 32 to 49 inches.
