“According to the updated data, after the identification, 14 dead people were found at the place where the helicopter fell, including one child and nine people who were on board,” the press service of the DSNS wrote in a Telegram message on Jan. 17.

According to their data, 25 people were injured, including 11 children. Search and rescue operations continue.

The helicopter of the DSNS with the top officials of the Interior Ministry on board crashed in a residential quarter in the town of Brovary in the morning of Jan. 18. It fell near a kindergarten and a high-rise residential building.

All nine people who were in the helicopter died: six members of the operational team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, his deputy Yevhen Yenin and the State Secretary of the department Yuriy Lubkovich, as well as three crew members.

The causes of the disaster are currently unknown. The SBU is considering three possinle causes: violation of flight rules, a technical malfunction of the helicopter, and deliberate actions to destroy the aircraft.
