After being crowned Stanley Cup champions last June, the St. Louis Blues celebrated in style on home ice to open their 2019-20 season.

It’s the first time the Blues have ever been reigning champs, and they brought the trophy on the ice in front of their home fans. Since their team won the Cup in Boston, the packed crowd at the Enterprise Center was able to enjoy it with their own eyes.

Captain Alex Pietrangelo skated to all ends of the ice, letting it sink in that the city of St. Louis has been able to win Lord Stanley’s Cup for the very first time. The celebration would not have been complete without the crowd belting out a loud, final version of Gloria.

The Blues fittingly opened up their post-championship season in a matchup against the team that is right beside them on the trophy, the Washington Capitals.

Despite the Cinderella story that they ended up being heading into last year’s post-season, St. Louis has cemented itself as a top contender in the divisive Central Division this season.
