Blue Jays Roundup: Golf keeping pace with top teams in WDA
May 18—It was a day for low scores out at Bismarck's Riverwood Golf Course.
Century won its fourth meet title of the season with a score of 302. Century's Logan Schoepp was the meet medalist with an even-par round of 72. Eight WDA golfers broke 80 and all 10 competing teams finished the round with scores that totaled less than 400.
The Blue Jays wound up seventh out of the 10 conference teams, carding a 348 between their top-five golfers. The No. 4 through 8 teams were only separated by 11 strokes.
Jamestown is set to host the rest of the WDA on Friday at the Jamestown Country Club. Golfers are expected to tee off at 10 a.m.
Easton Romsdal and Jordan Dooley were tied for the Jays' lowest score, both carding an 85 through the 18 holes. Andrew Walz and Hunter Gegelman notched scores of 89 while Luke LeFevre rounded out Jamestown's top five with a 94.

The Blue Jay tennis team has been right there all season and the trend held true Tuesday night in Madan.
Jamestown wound up falling 5-4 to the Braves, winning three of the six singles matches and notching one of the three doubles match.
From the opening serve, it was a battle for the Jays Tuesday. At No. 1 singles, Phoebe Olson quickly defeated Sophia Felderman 6-0 in the opening set before Felderman came back to challenge Olson. Olson wound up winning the second set 7-6(3).
'The girls fought hard but we couldn't quite pull it out," head coach Paul Olson said. "Grace Lefevre won a gutsy singles match in a tiebreaker and was good with Mya (Henderson) at doubles to pick up two wins. Bria (Nieswaag) and Phoebe played well in singles to pick up wins for us, too."
LeFevre took down Allie Ereth 6-4, 7-5(5), 7-6(5) while Nieswaag took care of business against Audrey Duppong defeating her 6-1, 6-4.
Next up for the Jays is the defending state champs, Minot, on Thursday in the Magic City. The WDA dual is slated to begin at 4:15 p.m.
