Blue Jackets promo throws not-so-subtle shade at departing stars

A lot of star power left the state of Ohio this summer, and it appears the Columbus Blue Jackets aren’t ready to let it slide.

Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene, and Sergei Bobrovsky all ditched the Jackets despite their successful post-season which included knocking off the bulldozer that was the Tampa Bay Lightning in four straight games in Round 1.

The club released a season-opening video on Youtube prior to their contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night, and it pretty overtly took a shot at all of the players who left the organization this summer.

The caption for the video being ‘L O Y A L T Y’ makes it pretty obvious, along with the use of the song ‘LOYALTY’ by Kendrick Lamar and the quotes from Jarmo Kekalainen, Cam Atkinson, Nick Foligno and John Tortorella that essentially call out everybody who left.

I’m a fan of this kind of passive-aggressive social media use. Sure, those departing stars have the right to choose what they do with their well-earned free agency, but I don’t mind seeing the Blue Jackets take a well-edited shot at them because, well, it’s really all they can do.
