Blue Devils contain Islanders

DeTOUR — Sault High downed the Cedarville-DeTour Islanders 51-37 in a non-conference boys basketball game Wednesday night.

Reilly Cox scored 10 points and Nathan Koepp added eight points to lead a balanced scoring effort from the Blue Devils, who climbed back to the .500 mark (5-5 overall).

The Blue Devils won their second game of the week over a team from the Eastern UP Conference, coming off a 73-34 victory over Pickford Monday.

Sault High led 27-18 at halftime and 41-23 through three quarters against the Islanders. Ten players scored for the Sault, with Carter Oshelski and Jakob Davie adding six points each, and Jonah DeNuccio-McShane and Joe Gravelle adding five points apiece to finish among the leaders.

Mike Perkins scored 10 points, while Hoss Sweeney, Aidan Ondrus and Alec Storey added six points apiece for the Islanders (4-4).

Sault High returns to Straits Area Conference competition, visiting Rudyard Friday night. Cedarville-DeTour visits St. Ignace Friday night.
