Bloomington North, South girls' tennis teams on collision course

Thursday's opener in the Bloomington South girls' tennis sectional was moved to the Indiana University Indoor Tennis Courts with bad weather approaching. But Bloomington North's team had a storm of its own waiting for Bedford North Lawrence, winning 5-0, to advance to the championship match.

Awaiting at 5 p.m. Friday will be rival South, which got past Edgewood, 4-1.

North posted four quick wins, giving up just one game in singles as Alex Shirley and Brook Bailey won 6-0, 6-0 at the 1 and 2 while Lucy Smith rolled 6-0, 6-1.

At 2 doubles, Siggy Force and Bella Winkler also won 6-0, 6-1.

The only match that caused any troubles came at 1 doubles, where Ellie Bruce and Keira Murphy topped Mallory Pride and Bella Stigall, 7-6(2), 6-3 to complete the sweep.

South took both doubles matches and the top doubles spots, with Edgewood's Macy Vaughn getting the win at No. 3 singles.
