One British woman experienced the pitfalls of the country's uncharacteristically hot summer when the logo on her Adidas leggings became "branded" onto her lower leg.
Danielle Viagus-Foster sat outside for nearly an hour and a half in the sun Wednesday while waiting for a friend to finish a driving lesson when she attained the rather unusual tan line, she told the Mirror.
The 21-year-old, who lives in Poole, Dorset, admitted she didn't even realize the accident occurred until she got home.
"It was when I went to put on my bikini that I saw my leg," she told the Mirror. "I thought 'Oh my god.' I was in fits of laughter."
Viagus-Foster took to Facebook to share photos of her leg, writing, "Think I caught a tan through my leggings," along with a facepalm emoji.
After her post accrued nearly 2,000 shares, Viagus-Foster decided to capitalize on her 15 minutes of internet fame and contacted Adidas, asking if they'd like to hire her as a brand ambassador.
According to the Mirror, the company turned down her application, but not before complimenting her on a "nice tan."
England, along with many other European countries, is currently in the throes of a dangerous heatwave.
The country on Thursday observed its hottest July day ever recorded, with temperatures soaring to 100.6°F in Cambridge, the BBC reports.
The previous record for July was 98°F, with the all-time high sitting at a blazing 101.3 degrees, a record officials say could very well be broken in 2019.
