Blake Lively may be known for her long, blonde locks and pearly smile, but her latest transformation is a stark departure for the red carpet goddess.
On Monday, the actress debuted a new look for her role in the upcoming film "The Rhythm Section," out on Jan 31. To play Stephanie Patrick, a woman who takes action after her family dies in an intentional plane crash, the mother of three worked with makeup artist Vivian Baker for the transformation, which included a disheveled brunette bowl cut.

"Facetune broke," she joked in the photo's caption.
The drastic new 'do left many of Lively's 26 million Instagram followers in shock (including Mariah Carey!). Some said they didn't even realize it was the actress in the trailer.
"Incredible what makeup can achieve," commented one fan.
"Just saw the preview and didn’t even know that was you in that movie!" another said.

The shaggy bowl cut isn't the only look that Lively portrays in the movie. The actress later shared a new photo of her character Stephanie with long red hair and bangs, leaving us to believe there will certainly be a lot more in the movie.
The thriller also stars Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown and is based on the book of the same name by Mark Burnell.
