Blackpink becomes the first music artists to reach 70 million subscribers on YouTube

Blackpink has made YouTube history by becoming the world’s most subscribed-to music artists.

“Blackpink in Your Area”: Blackpink surpassed Justin Bieber’s YouTube subscriber count of 66.4 million to become the first artists to ever reach 70 million subscribers on the social media platform, reported Soompi.

  • According to YG Entertainment, the group achieved this milestone on Nov. 28 at 11 a.m KST after only five years and five months since the launch of their official YouTube account on June 28, 2016.

  • Blackpink surpassed other globally popular artists on the platform such as BTS, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Marshmello. Justin Bieber currently holds the second-highest position with 66.4 million YouTube subscribers.

  • According to Manila Bulletin, the South Korean girl group reached the Top 5 list of most-subscriptions among YouTube music artists in July of last year. After band member Lisa’s “Lalisa” album release, the group went on to earn over five million more subscribers.

  • Blackpink’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” is their most-viewed music video with over 1.7 billion views, as of this writing. Their music video for “Kill This Love” has garnered over 1.4 billion views while “Boombayah” has earned 1.3 billion views.
