This ‘biscuit-based’ spot is South Carolina’s top place for brunch, Yelp report finds

A South Carolina restaurant has a biscuit-focused menu — and fans can’t get enough of the buttery Southern staples it serves.

So much so, the Myrtle Beach eatery was named the state’s No. 1 place to eat brunch, according to results published Sept. 19.

The restaurant — called 10/Fold Biscuits — received statewide recognition after restaurant review website Yelp studied places that offer breakfast and brunch. It “ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews” over time, results show.

10/Fold Biscuits came out on top after Yelp users raved about the restaurant’s atmosphere and service. Then there were the biscuits, which several customers said were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, helping the business earn five out of five stars.

The dining destination calls itself a “biscuit-based restaurant,” with dishes ranging from an eggs Benedict biscuit to one that’s smothered in shrimp and grits. If you prefer to top your own biscuit, there’s also a station full of different kinds of jams and butters, Yelp users said.

“As a southern-style kitchen, we strongly believe that no meal can be complete without the presence of a biscuit,” the restaurant wrote on its website.

10/Fold Biscuits, which gets its name from the process of folding the dough during biscuit making, was established in 2020. After Jakob Hovhannisyan moved to the United States from Armenia, he developed a passion for Southern cooking and wanted to bring something different to the Myrtle Beach dining scene, The Sun News reported.

“Myrtle Beach needed a place like this,” Hovhannisyan told the newspaper in 2021. “I want it to be something fresh, something modern, something unlike every other fast-casual type of restaurant in Myrtle Beach.”

10/Fold Biscuits is located on North Kings Highway and is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays to Sundays.

Though the restaurant earned statewide recognition from Yelp, it missed out on another recent dining list. In April, no South Carolina restaurants ranked among OpenTable’s best brunch spots in the nation.
