Bill Turnbull set to replace Piers Morgan on 'Good Morning Britain' with TV comeback
Bill Turnbull has revealed he’s replacing Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.
The BBC Breakfast favourite says he’s “thrilled” to be reuniting with former presenting pal Susanna Reid on the show while the regular host is on holiday.
“Susanna’s an old friend,” he gushed to ITV. “It’s great when you work with someone you like on television and it’s effortless. It comes really naturally and you develop a rhythm and a silent understanding of who is going to do what and you recognise each other’s patterns and it’s easy.

“When you come off air, you feel like you’ve really enjoyed it, that’s when it works well.”
Set to appear on the panel three days a week, Turnbull - who has taken a step back from hosting live TV since being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 - admits he’ll probably have a hard time voicing his opinion, unlike Morgan, because he’s “so used to not spouting off on air.”
The 64-year-old continued: “It goes against my personal grain really. I’ve been working on commercial radio, so to a limited degree I’ve had more freedom.
“But who knows what might happen? It might be that the beast might be unleashed on air. You’ll have to watch and find out.”
Touching on his health, the veteran broadcaster assured fans he’s feeling “okay at the moment” and due to diet changes over the last few months, he’s actually feeling better than he has in a long time.
“The only thing I do have is, because I’m on a hormone treatment, I do get hot flushes,” he admitted. “I’m a bit nervous as it could be slightly awkward in the studio. Normally what happens if I get a hot flush, I get all red in the face and I take my jacket off and cool down.
“I’m not sure I’m going to be able to do that. We may need to get a little fan,” he laughed.
While it’s only a temporary gig, Turnbull concluded by saying that his ideal guest to interview on the show would be Queen Elizabeth II.
“That ain’t going to happen,” he joked. “But can you imagine what that would be like? It would be lovely.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am to 9am on ITV.
