STORY: Parts of Twitter’s source code have been leaked online. That’s according to court filings first reported by the New York Times. The source code is the software that powers the company’s online presence. Bits of it were reportedly posted on GitHub. That’s a Microsoft-owned platform for sharing code for software development. The excerpts were shared by a user called "FreeSpeechEnthusiast". GitHub says it took down the relevant posts on Friday (March 24) at Twitter’s request. The social network has now asked a court to order GitHub to produce identifying information for "FreeSpeechEnthusiast". GitHub didn’t respond when asked by Reuters whether it had complied, or how long the code had been publicly available. It’s all just the latest headache for Twitter following its takeover by Tesla billionaire Elon Musk.
