BikeWillmar ready to ride into third season

May 10—WILLMAR — Those in Willmar wanting to take a relaxing bike ride around the city's many parks and trails are in luck. The third season of BikeWillmar has launched, with the distinguishable white bikes located at 11 racks across town.

The bikes can be rented for $1 an hour using the Koloni app on both Apple and Android smartphones. A credit card is also required. Riders can also choose to purchase a season membership for $20.

* 19th Avenue and Fifth Street Southeast

* Miller Park

* Rice Park

* MinnWest Technology Campus

* Selvig Park

* Southfield Park

* Swansson Field Complex

* Willmar Lakes Area Convention and Visitors Bureau

* Carris Health — Willmar Main Clinic

BikeWillmar was established in 2019. Last year, with the season starting late due to the pandemic, there were 351 individual rentals, according to statistics provided by BikeWillmar. Riders traveled approximately 424 miles, with the average trip being 1.41 miles. The most used rental rack was at the Glacial Lakes State Trailhead with 113 rentals, followed by Rice Park with 49.

More than 60 percent of the riders were between the ages of 18 and 35 and 62 percent of the total ridership was female.
