BGM rallies for five-set win over L-S volleyball

Sep. 24—SULLY — Lynnville-Sully and BGM played five sets of volleyball on Thursday. The largest margin of victory in any of those frames was five points. And three were decided by the smallest possible difference.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, BGM rallied for a 25-22, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 18-16 road win during a South Iowa Cedar League matchup.

The Hawks got double-doubles from Elise Alberts and Alexy Conover and served up 14 aces. BGM's balance at the net though was too much to overcome.

Alberts finished with 21 assists, 16 digs, three kills and two aces and Conover added 12 kills, 33 digs and two aces.

Paige James registered eight kills, three blocks, four digs and four aces, Aubree Arthur put down seven kills and tallied 11 digs and Abby Squires chipped in 11 digs, five kills and four blocks.

Jordan Spooner registered 21 digs, two assists and two kills. Natalie Roberts had 12 digs and two aces, Carsyn McFarland tallied 11 digs and three aces and Morgan Jones collected nine digs.

The Hawks (5-16 overall, 2-3 in the SICL) served 100-of-107. Alberts and Roberts were 20-of-21, McFarland served 16-of-16 and James was 14-of-15.
