Beyoncé to headline first solo tour since 2016 and she is coming to Miami

Get in formation: the real is back.

Beyoncé will headline the “Renaissance World Tour” in 2023 in support of her eponymous seventh studio album, the singer announced via social media Wednesday. The tour will begin May 10 in Stockholm and travel to at least 39 other cities, including Miami where she’ll perform at Hard Rock Stadium on Aug. 18.

It’s unclear when tickets will be released. A message on her website just said “soon.”

This will be Beyoncé’s first string of shows since she co-headlined the On the Run II tour with her husband Jay-Z in 2018. She most recently went on the road for the Formation tour in 2016 in support of her critically acclaimed album “Lemonade.”

The following year, her stunning performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival generated the name “Beychella.” It also spawned the 2019 concert film and live album “Homecoming.”

Beyoncé’s starring role as Nala in the 2019 release of “The Lion King” led to two more projects: “The Lion King: The Gift” in 2019 and 2020’s visual album “Black is King.”

In July 2022, Beyoncé returned to mainstream pop with the release of “Renaissance,” an album that heavily influenced by dance music and Black queer culture. The project earned Beyoncé nine Grammy Award nominations and on Sunday, she’ll look to become the most-decorated artist in the award show’s history.

“My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment,” she wrote of the album, which she deemed the first of three acts. “A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.”

Most recently, Beyoncé endured some criticism for her January performance at a luxury hotel’s grand opening in Dubai, a city known for its strict laws against same-sex relationships. The singer was reportedly paid $24 million for the extremely private, invite-only event. An article posted in The Guardian deemed the performance “an affront to LGBTQ+ fans,” though songs from “Renaissance” were omitted from her set list.
