Better every game

Dec. 7—Though the Panthers remain winless, head coach Tony Neubauer says the girls have improved tenfold since Nov. 18.

"The biggest thing is energy and effort," he said. After Des Moines Christian we had a little pity party, but then we had a good talk. Since then, we've played consistently hard."

In their Tuesday home 46-27 loss against the undefeated St. Albert Saintes, the Panthers rallied in the second quarter to go into the half down by only one.

"Rebounds were what we struggled with against Carlisle," Neubauer said. "So we were focused on rebounds coming in."

Despite the Saintes having a 6-3 senior and a 6-4 junior, the Panthers posted 14 more rebounds.

Creston senior Doryn Paup logged a team-high 17 rebounds and 12 points in the matchup.

The Saintes came out strong after the half, outscoring the Panthers 27-9 in the second half.

"They scored consistently in the second half. They're 5-0 for a reason," Neubauer said. "They're a good team."

The Saintes were lead by Landry Miller with 13 points.

Creston's senior Jacy Kralik was 6 of 8 from the free-throw line, contributing six points and 11 rebounds in the matchup.

"The teams we've played are 19-3," Neubauer said. "It's not an excuse, but it has been a tough schedule."

After three back-to-back games, the Panthers get an opportunity to get in the gym and practice before they host Atlantic at 6 p.m. Friday.

"The kids played hard," Neubauer said. "We just couldn't get the ball in the basket."
