The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child Princess Charlotte is set to join her brother Prince George at Thomas’s Battersea in September.

Like births and weddings, a royal’s first day at school makes national news.

A nervous Prince George began his education at the £19,000-a-year private school, in 2017.

He was accompanied by his father William, but mum Kate was suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness) while pregnant with Prince Louis.

Located just a 20 minute drive from Kensington Palace, Thomas’s Battersea teaches 560 boys and girls between the ages of four and 13.

The uniform is a distinctive navy and red with a unicorn crest, while the school motto is ‘Be Kind.’

The school offers a broad curriculum with Art, Ballet, Drama, ICT, French, Music and PE all taught by specialist teachers.

Before starting there, Prince George attended Westacre Montessori School when the Cambridges were living in Norfolk. He started the George-effect, when royal fans rushed to buy the quilted navy John Lewis coat he wore on his first day.

Princess Charlotte started at the £3350-a-term Willcocks Nursery School, in Kensington in January 2018.

Photos shared by her parents showed the young royal wearing a red double-breasted wool coat by Amaia Kids with matching buckled shoes and cable knit grey tights. Fans also clamoured to buy the pink Cath Kidston pony print backpack she wore.
