Bernalillo County, ABQ offering free lunch for seniors

Jun. 16—ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Bernalillo County announced Wednesday that it is making available free lunches to seniors 60 years and older at the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center and Raymond G. Sanchez Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Reservations are required and the service is available now.

"Seniors who call in their reservation can now pick up their lunch inside the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center or dine-in if they like and there's room," George Schroeder, senior and social services manager, said in a news release. "At Raymond G. Sanchez Senior Center the lunches are available for drive-thru pick up."

To reserve a meal at the South Valley center at 2008 Larrazolo SW, call 505-468-7604 before 1 p.m. the prior business day. The lunch will be available for pick-up or dining in from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dine-in seating is limited and if unavailable, lunch may be taken to go, according to a news release.

To reserve a meal at the Raymond G. Sanchez Senior Center, 9800 Fourth NW, call 505-314-0082 before 1 p.m. the prior business day. The reserved lunch will then be available for drive-thru pick up in the parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. No dine-in service is available at the North Valley site.

The free senior lunch service is a combined effort of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Area Agency on Aging.
