Berkshire at Harvey football: Preview capsule for Oct. 7 game

Oct. 6—Berkshire at Harvey

What: CVC Valley Division game

When: 7 p.m., Oct. 7

Where: Jack Britt Stadium

Records: Berkshire 4-3 (2-1 CVC), Harvey 4-3 (3-0 CVC)

Last week: Hawken def. Berkshire, 35-27, Youngstown Chaney def. Harvey, 33-14

For the record: The Valley Division lead is shared by Harvey and Hawken. Berkshire is a game back after a one-touchdown loss to Hawken last week. ... The Red Raiders are coming off a non-conference loss to Chaney. Both Shahn Alston and Blaise Collins were dinged up in that loss, so Harvey's run game could be affected if they aren't ready to go or are less than 100 percent. Chaney ran for 237 yards last week, so Harvey's run defense will want to shore up this week. Keep an eye on Davon Badley. He's a difference-maker on both sides of the ball for Harvey. ... Berkshire had trouble stopping the run last week against Hawken, giving up 346 yards. But on the plus side, the Badgers ran for 208 and threw for 190. Miles Miller ran for 110 and threw for 190. Josh Brown ran for 90 and had an 89-yard kickoff return. ... This game has "high-scoring slugfest" written all over it. A big key will be who — if anyone — can slow down the other team's running game.
