Bemidji State, Northwest Technical College to host Scrubs Camp

May 23—BEMIDJI — Bemidji State University

and

Northwest Technical College

will host their seventh year of Scrubs Camp June 12 through 16 for students entering grades 9-12.

"A collaborative project between BSU, NTC and Sanford Health, Scrubs Camp offers students an opportunity to explore the many careers in the health sciences," a release said. "Students will participate in hands-on learning sessions and investigate possible health care disciplines that interest them."

Some of the health care areas that may be explored include nursing, emergency responder, rural community health, oncology, surgery and mental health among others.

The camp registration fee — including housing at BSU — is $465, which includes instructional costs, overnight accommodations, meals and scrubs. A commuter option of $365 is also available for those not staying on campus overnight, and scholarships are available.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, May 25.

The tentative schedule includes:

* Sunday, June 12: CPR and First Aid at BSU

* Monday, June 13: Nursing lab at BSU

* Tuesday, June 14: Nursing lab at NTC

* Wednesday, June 15: Site visit at Sanford Health

* Thursday, June 16: Mental Health First Aid
