Bemidji City Council to hold 2 public hearings during tonight's meeting
Oct. 3—BEMIDJI — The
Bemidji City Council
will hold two public hearings during tonight's meeting and will also review a proposal for a study in preparation for the 2023 Street Renewal project.
The first public hearing deals with a proposed ordinance allowing the city to assess costs for work done on private property to address code violations after proper notification of the owner and a failure to take care of the issue.
The second public hearing will be on a proposed adjustment to the membership requirements for the Public Arts Commission, which would allow for three, rather than two, of the group's members to be non-city residents.
Following the public hearings, the council will consider a resolution to order a preliminary study on a selection of city streets to gather information for proposed work to be included in the 2023 Street Renewal project.
The streets included in the resolution before the council are:
* Mississippi Avenue Northwest — from Fifth Street Northwest to 12th Street Northwest.
* 11th Street Northwest — from Jeanette Avenue Northwest to Mississippi Avenue Northwest.
The study will examine proposed improvements, cost estimates and potential funding sources. After the study is done, neighborhood meetings will be held with affected property owners to discuss the project.
