Bemidji Area Church Musicians

Summer Recital Series will conclude its 35th season with the last recital of the summer set for noon on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the First Lutheran Church, 900 Bemidji Ave N.

The recital will feature Jon Romer on the Native American flute and Sarah Carlson on piano and organ.

Jon Romer, who lived in Bemidji for many years and was an active member of the BACM, now lives with his wife in Albert Lea. He has played the Native American flute and taught others to play for many years. He has written numerous pieces for the flute and will perform several in this concert, a release said.

This concert will be a bit longer than others in the Summer Recital Series, extending to 45 minutes, the release added.

A luncheon will follow the recital with a price to be announced.

The event is free and open to the public, a free-will offering will be received at the door for the scholarship programs of the BACM.

"The recitals in the series, held each Wednesday throughout the summer, have been well attended," organizer Kenneth Wold said in the release. "Thank you to all who have supported this series."

Bemidji Area Church Musicians welcomes additional people to help in the advancement of music in churches in the Bemidji area. There will be a meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, for those who wish to join the committee.
