Beltrami County Historical Society joins Museums for All
Jul. 4—BEMIDJI — The Beltrami County Historical Society recently announced that it has joined Museums for All.
Museums for All is a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Association of Children's Museums to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits, a release said.
The program supports those receiving food assistance benefits to visit the History Center for free, for up to four people, with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
Similar free and reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 850 museums across the country, the release said.
Museums for All is part of the Beltrami County Historical Society's broad commitment to seek, include and welcome all audiences. This initiative is funded through a grant by United Way of the Bemidji Area.
"While we recognize that cost is only one barrier to meaningful access to history, we are honored to receive this grant from the United Way of the Bemidji area to pilot Museums for All this year for all visitors to the History Center presenting a SNAP/EBT card," Emily Thabes, executive director of Beltrami County Historical Society, said in the release. "We hope that more members of our community take advantage of the museum and discover historical programs and opportunities of interest as a result of our participation in Museums for All."

helps expand access to museums and also raises public awareness about how museums in the U.S. are reaching their entire communities.
