Beltrami County Farm Bureau to host commissioner, sheriff candidate forums

Oct. 3—BEMIDJI — The Beltrami County Farm Bureau will hold two candidate forums in October, one on Oct. 12 for county commissioner candidates and one on Oct. 19 for candidates for county sheriff.

Both forums will be held at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds in the 4-H Building and will begin with a social at 6 p.m. The forums are scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and will be moderated by Todd Haugen of KB101 FM radio.

All county commissioner candidates for each of the five district races will be present at the forum on Oct. 12. The Oct. 19 forum will have both sheriff candidates, Jarrett Walton and Jason Riggs, present for the event. The public is invited to attend and encouraged to submit questions.

"More so than ever, there are fewer opportunities to meet and learn about our candidates in person," said John Gilbertson, Jr., president of the farm bureau. "Voters need to be informed. I encourage everyone to attend the forums, meet their candidates and learn of the many issues facing our county."
