Good morning and welcome to this week's edition of Your Week on the South Shore. Can you believe we're already mid-way through August? And you know what that means? The start of the school year is right around the corner.

We're gearing up for the start of the fall high school sports season, particularly football, with some subscriber only preseason coverage.

Every high school football season, there's a handful of programs that always find a way to be in the mix for a Super Bowl run. So who might be the surprise breakout candidates for the 2022 season? Our sports writers have done the research and they think these five teams might make some noise.

For David McCullough, the South Shore became home

In a 2017 Patriot Ledger interview, David McCullough said a visit to his and Rosalee’s newly-purchased Hingham home inspired him to gather the lectures and speeches for his collection “The American Spirit.”

McCullough died Sunday, Aug. 7 in Hingham, less than two months after Rosalee.

ICYMI: Carver's Edaville Family Theme Park is off the market

Owners of Edaville Family Theme Park in a Facebook post last week said Edaville is "no longer for sale." A pair of new operators – Shervin B. Hawley, of Sudbury and Brian Fanslau, of Maine – "are committed to the long-term success of Edaville as a traditional family park centered on its historic steam locomotives and family-oriented activities," the post read.

It's unclear if the theme park was sold to the new operators of if they've been hired to run it by longtime owner Jon Delli Priscoli, who first said in April that he plans to sell the 75-year-old park and the scenic railroad.
