Baxter wrestling opens with wins over Cardinal, Montezuma

Dec. 3—SIGOURNEY — Five Bolts went unbeaten and Baxter's wrestling team opened the season with a pair of dual wins on Thursday.

The Bolts cruised past Cardinal 54-18 and blasted Montezuma 54-22 during a road quadrangular. Baxter lost to host Sigourney-Keota 51-23.

Rugar Kincaid (120), Cole Smith (126), Ty Bauman (138), Jack Anderson (152) and Aiden McFadden (285) all went unbeaten at their respective weights.

Kincaid and Anderson both won twice by fall and once by forfeit and Smith and McFadden each won one by fall and twice by forfeit. Bauman took a pair of forfeits.

In the win over Cardinal, the Bolts were 6-1 in contested matches and collected three forfeit wins. Kincaid, Smith, Anderson, Callyn Bishop (170), Michael Wilhelm (182) and McFadden all won by fall and Bauman, Alex Dille (113) and Skyler Stoll (145) all took forfeits.

Baxter took seven forfeits against Montezuma and they were 2-1 in contested matches. Stoll and Bishop both won by fall, while Dille, Kincaid, Smith, Bauman, Anderson, McFadden and Koltin Hurd (132) all took forfeits.

The Bolts took a pair of forfeits against Sigourney-Keota, but the Cobras took four from Baxter and were 5-2 in contested matches.

Kincaid and Anderson both won by fall, while Smith and McFadden took forfeits. The team also lost a team point because of unsportsmanlike conduct.
