Baseball: Willmar secures second straight CLC title

May 24—COLD SPRING — The Willmar baseball team secured its second straight Central Lakes Conference championship after shutting out Rocori 7-0 on Monday.

Ian Koosman went the distance on the mound for the Cardinals. He struck out 10 while limiting the Spartans to two hits and two walks in the victory. He also was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

"Ian has been really solid all year," Willmar head coach Tom DeBoer said.

Cayden Hansen paced Willmar's offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Sam Etterman was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored

Scoreless through the first two innings, the Cardinals broke the game open with a five-run top of the third. Willmar finished the game with 10 hits.

Ranked seventh in Class AAA, Willmar hosts Big Lake at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bill Taunton Stadium. That's the regular-season finale.
