Baseball: Rockville, Perry roll

Apr. 21—De'Shaun Perry was too much for Granby to handle Tuesday.

The Rockville High baseball team's junior pitched 5.2 innings of three-hit, shutout ball and went 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs as the Rams routed the host Bears 12-0 in an NCCC game.

Perry walked one and struck out five before Steven Kozak came on to get the final four outs and complete the shutout.

Kozak added two hits for Rockville (3-2) and scored five runs. Anthony Mierez and Matt Ryan also had multi-hit games for the Rams. Sam Wheeler's three-run homer closed out the scoring in the seventh.

Josh Selander took the loss for Granby (1-3).

Rockville is at Suffield today.

COVENTRY 11, EAST WINDSOR 1. In East Windsor, pitcher Ethan Hunt struck out 12 in five innings as Coventry coasted to a NCCC victory in six innings.

Evan Menzel had two hits for the Patriots (3-1). Austin Jonas drove in three runs while Ethan Covell and Nate Cordner had two RBIs each.

Today, Coventry is at Stafford, while East Windsor (1-3) entertains Granby.

WINDSOR 6, CONARD 2. At Barry Chasen Ballpark in Windsor, the host Warriors built a 5-0 third-inning lead and went on to the CCC win.

Jeremy Blackwood pitched five innings for the win allowing four hits and two runs. Alec Lachniet got the final six outs. Nason Busca had two hits and an RBI to pace the offense for Windsor (3-1) while Isaac Rosario and Aiden Serrano also drove in runs.

Windsor is at Hartford Public today.
