Barcelona Police Respond to Anti COVID-19 Lockdown Protesters

Police clashed with protesters in the northeastern Spanish city of Barcelona when anti-lockdown demonstrations turned violent on October 30.

This footage, shot by photographer Victor Arias, shows police engaging with protesters. In one video, a police officer fires from a van. Another video shows the aftermath of the vandalism and looting of a Foot Locker store.

An estimated 1,500 people took part in the largely peaceful protests, which descended into violence after demonstrators threw objects at law enforcement, local media reported, citing police.

The demonstrations were sparked by recent regional restrictions aimed at curbing a nationwide spike in coronavirus cases.
