Ball State and Georgia State will play in Camellia Bowl on Christmas Day

The 2021 Tax Act Camellia Bowl will feature Ball State and Georgia State, the bowl announced Sunday. This will be the eighth Camellia Bowl since its installation in 2014.

The game will be played on Dec. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery and televised on the ESPN family of networks.

In last year's Camellia Bowl, Buffalo beat Marshall 17-10.

Ball State finished its regular season 6-6 with wins over Army, Western Illinois, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Akron and 2020 Camellia Bowl winner Buffalo. Ball State beat Army 28-16 at home for its biggest win of the season.

Georgia State finished its regular season 7-5 with wins over Charlotte, ULM, Texas State, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State and Troy. Georgia State led late in the fourth quarter against Auburn but gave up a touchdown on fourth down that capped a 13-play, 98-yard drive for the Tigers. Georgia State lost 34-24.
