Balenciaga Takes Over the NYSE Trading Floor for Spring 2023 Collection
Demna invited guests to the trading floor of the NYSE on Sunday to showcase his Spring 2023 collection for Balenciaga.
Models walked down the runway in BDSM-style latex masks wearing looks in a mix of ready-to-wear and eveningwear. Demna divided the show into three sections, the first being "Garde-Robe," which featured luxe materials such as wool, silk and gabardine on suites, matching separates and outerwear. "At Balenciaga, we cater to different types of clients. We already have the streetwear, sport-inspired part, and the Garde-Robe part is really something new," the designer spoke to GQ of the new range.
The second was "extra-formal" wear -- including bodycon gowns, tuxedos and silk trenches -- that was showcased with the famous "New York, New York" track playing in the background. Extra chunky shoes took center stage, accompanying the leather skirts, maxi-length coats and more.
The runway then quickly transitioned into a fast-paced stage for the rumored adidas x Balenciaga collaboration, comprised of apparel, footwear and accessories. Pieces were highlighted with a reworked version of adidas' signature Trefoil and Three Stripes logos. The presentation closed with all of the screens on the trading floor glitching and flickering.
