New Balance Announces a Black Colorway of the 9060 Silhouette

Following its soft launch on the Mowalola runway and official debut later in July, the New Balance 9060 has become an exciting new addition to our sneaker wardrobes. First released in a muted "Mindful Gray" colorway, there's a new kid in town and the second iteration is decidedly bolder and more brazen.

Drawing inspiration from the futuristic, tech-led aesthetic of the early 2000s, the silhouette sources elements from New Balance's 99X models but with an exaggerated twist. Encouraging an "expressive approach to everyday versatility," the new silhouette aims to represent a conceptual shift towards the future.

The new colorway is a stark contrast to the first edition and features a combination of black, brown and grey on the upper. Darker colors of the 9060 were always on the cards, especially since the shoe first debuted in black and purple and black and green colorways at Mowalola, so it comes as no surprise that this is the next release.

The 9060, which reflects the current resurgence of Y2K design language, seems to be the natural progression after silhouettes like the 327 and 237 were influenced by the '70s and the 57/40 was inspired by the '80s and '90s.

The New Balance 9060 will be available for purchase from the brand's website from August 13.
